What is a Double-note Detection?

During the bill counting process, there will be possibilites that 2 or even more bills are fed into the separation mechanism together, and they are not separated because the feeding gap is too loose and because they may stick to each other completely. We call this type of bill a 'double note'.

So, how the counter system handle this type of bill? We need a double note detection system here!

In this industry, there are 2 completely different types of double note detection systems, electronic type & mechanical type.

Electronic type double note detection works with infrared sensors. The sensors emit infrared light, and the receiving part will receive the left light after it penetrates the bill. And the system will analize the left infrared light strength, and give a determination.
But in this case, a surface-poluted bill may bring mistakes to the infrared sensors by misleading the double note detection system with less left infrared light strength. Then the counter will stop one surface-poluted bill by indicating 'a double note' somehow. 
Most of the counters in this industry are adopting electronic type double note detection system, because they can not control the component-making precision.

Mechanical type double note detection works with the measuring mechanism of the thickness of a detected bill. Thus, this type of double note detection system can assure the detection accuracy, and will not make mistakes even the bills are poluted on their surfaces.
